William E.B. Siart Founder and Chairman of the Board
William E.B. Siart founded ExED in 1998, following his final candidacy for Superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Mr. Siart is the former chairman and chief executive officer of First Interstate Bancorp, a $60 billion banking company with over 40,000 employees in 13 western states. A nationally recognized business leader, he was selected "Business Person of the Year" by Business Week and is a well-regarded civic leader in Los Angeles devoted to local education reform. Prior to ExED incorporating as a nonprofit in 1999, Mr. Siart funded a staff of three to thoroughly research the revenue and expense structure of public schools and best practices in education.
Mr. Siart is active in many community organizations. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Southern California, The J. Paul Getty Trust, and Camino Nuevo Charter Academy. Mr. Siart earned an M.B.A. in finance from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.S. in economics from Santa Clara University.

Anita Landecker Executive Director
Anita Landecker joined ExED in 1999. She is a leader in community development in Los Angeles, having directed the western operations for the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LlSC) for more than a decade. At LlSC, Ms. Landecker raised over $1 billion for affordable housing investment in inner-city areas. She has taught at UCLA, served on the Los Angeles Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Community Development Technologies Center, The Community Foundation Land Trust, Building Excellent Schools, and Menorah Housing Foundation. Ms. Landecker earned an M.S. in urban planning from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Carrie Wagner Chief Operating Officer
Carrie Wagner oversees the business operations for charter school clients, which includes budgeting, cash flow projections, accounting, bookkeeping, compliance and general operations. Prior to joining ExED, Ms. Wagner oversaw multiple social enterprises including a construction, janitorial service and catering business at a local non-profit organization that assists homeless veterans. Each of these social enterprises were used as on-the-job training sites for the veterans and also created unrestricted liquid funds for the organization. She has also worked in corporate finance at Heller Financial and as a Certified Public Accountant in the audit division of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Ms. Wagner earned an M.B.A. from the Anderson School at UCLA and a B.S. from the University of Notre Dame.
